Personal Experience
Growing up as the youngest in a divorced family, I often found myself in the role of the peacemaker, striving to bring calm and understanding to the tensions around me. This role wasn’t just about keeping the peace—it was about understanding the emotions and needs of those I cared about, often before they even expressed them. This early responsibility sparked my fascination with how people connect and communicate, laying the foundation for my future career.
Becoming a therapist felt like a natural extension of the role I had played in my family, but with an important shift: I learned how to set healthy boundaries and transform that early instinct into a more skilled and intentional way of helping others, grounded in professional training and evidence-based practices. Pursuing a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy allowed me to channel my passion into a career where I could help others navigate their own challenges in a balanced and constructive way. This training enabled me to see the bigger picture—the complex dynamics at play in relationships and families. Today, I’m grateful to use these insights to help my clients piece together their stories, find healing, and move forward with a greater sense of wellness and fulfillment.
Working with Adults
Navigating relationships and life’s challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming. I work with adults who need extra mental and relational support, focusing on issues like anxiety, anger management, burnout, perfectionism, and self-doubt. My goal is to create a compassionate space where you can explore these challenges and find strategies that work for you.
Together, we can tackle feelings of self-doubt, whether from work stress, imposter syndrome, or the pressures of daily life. I also help clients recognize and overcome self-sabotaging behaviors, empowering you to break old habits and live a more balanced life.
Working with Couples
I help couples feel more connected, enhance communication, and ease relationship anxiety. My training in the Gottman Method offers practical tools for improving communication and managing conflict, while Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) helps us explore and strengthen the emotional bonds between partners.
By integrating these approaches, I provide a supportive environment where couples can understand the root causes of their challenges and work towards a healthier, more fulfilling connection. Whether you’re navigating conflict or seeking deeper intimacy, I’m here to guide you in building a stronger relationship.
Working with Teens
Supporting teens through their unique challenges is an important part of my work. My training in family therapy allows me to understand how a teen’s struggles are often linked to family dynamics, helping me address issues like anxiety, academic stress, and social pressures within the broader context of their relationships. I strive to create a compassionate space where teens can explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop the tools they need to thrive, empowering them to navigate their challenges with confidence.
Treatment Approach
The therapy models I use include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, The Gottman Method, and Bowen’s Family Therapy, offering clients a well-rounded and integrative approach. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful tool for helping clients process trauma and reinforce positive changes. My goal is to create a supportive yet challenging environment that fosters authentic connection both inside and outside of the counseling session.
