Parent coaching isn’t a class, a book, or a list of strategies. It’s a chance to step back, reflect, and parent with more purpose. As a Certified Parent Coach, Autumn Wells helps parents step out of survival mode and into a more intentional way of parenting. With a background in journalism and corporate communications, she understands the power of the stories we tell ourselves, including the ones that shape our parenting.

As a mother of two, including a neurodiverse child, and co-parenting across two homes, Autumn understands how overwhelming parenting can feel: falling into old patterns, reacting in ways that don’t align with your values, and constantly second-guessing yourself. She also knows how much a child’s world extends beyond the home, which is why, in addition to coaching, she works as a K-12 substitute teacher. Seeing children in the classroom gives her unique insight into how they learn, communicate, and process emotions, helping her bridge the gap between home and school. Her approach isn’t about following a script. It’s about helping parents understand themselves on a deeper level so they can navigate challenges with more trust in themselves.

My Journey to Parent Coaching

If you had told me years ago that I’d become a parenting coach, I might have laughed. In retrospect, my journey from journalist to corporate communicator to mother was always leading me here. My background in journalism gave me the skills to ask deep questions, uncover the heart of a story, and, most importantly, listen. Later, working in corporate communications and executive support, I became an expert in managing high-stress situations, defusing tension, and facilitating clear, productive conversations. These are the skills that translate powerfully into parenting.

Yet, nothing shaped me more than becoming a mom. Raising two children, including a neurodiverse child, and navigating co-parenting between two homes changed everything I thought I knew about parenting. Like many parents, I found myself overwhelmed with advice that didn’t fit my family’s needs. I craved a way to parent that felt connected and aligned, not just reactive. That’s when I discovered a different approach. One rooted in safety, kindness, freedom, and, yes, even fun. It changed everything, and I knew I had to share it with others.

My Approach: Rewriting Your Parenting Narrative

Parenting isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. Just like in journalism, where every story has layers, our parenting beliefs are shaped by the stories we’ve been told about what makes a “good” parent. I help parents uncover those stories, challenge the ones that no longer serve them, and rewrite a new, empowering narrative that aligns with their values and their child’s needs.

At the core of my coaching is this. Parenting isn’t something you fix, it’s something you experiment with, grow into, and adapt to, just like our children do. I work with parents to develop practical, compassionate strategies that foster connection, help regulate emotions (both theirs and their child’s), and bring more ease into daily life. Whether you’re navigating emotional outbursts, power struggles, or feeling disconnected from your child, I help you shift from frustration to understanding, from conflict to connection.

For parents raising neurodiverse children, I provide tailored strategies that honor and celebrate your child’s unique strengths while supporting you in the challenges that come with parenting outside the traditional mold. For families navigating divorce and co-parenting, I offer guidance on creating a sense of stability and connection for children moving between homes. Every family is different, and my coaching meets you where you are.

What to Expect from Parent Coaching

Parent coaching isn’t about adding more parenting hacks to your mental checklist. It’s about making sure you don’t need a checklist in the first place. Together, we’ll tackle the toughest parenting challenges. The meltdowns, the backtalk, the “why is bedtime still a battle” moments, so you can stop second-guessing yourself and start feeling clear and confident in your leadership.

Sessions are judgment-free, shame-free, and packed with real strategies that fit your family. But this isn’t just about learning what to do. It’s about becoming the parent you want to be, even in the heat of the moment. Because let’s be honest, parenting advice is useless if you forget it the second your child throws their shoes at you.

Beyond coaching, my role as a K-12 substitute teacher gives me a unique perspective on how children experience the world outside their home. I see firsthand how children process emotions, navigate social dynamics, and respond to different parenting styles. This insight helps me coach parents on how to bridge the gap between home and school so they can better support their child in every environment.

By the end of coaching, parents say they

  • Know exactly how to handle the tough moments. Meltdowns, sibling fights, “I hate you, Mom” you’ll have tools that actually work, even when emotions are running high
  • Feel calmer and more in control. No more reactive yelling or spiraling guilt, you’ll know how to respond in ways that align with your values and your child’s needs
  • Turn battles into breakthroughs. From screen time struggles to morning chaos, you’ll transform daily conflicts into moments of connection without bribing them with snacks
  • Parent with clarity, no more guessing. You won’t have to wonder, “Am I doing this right” because you’ll have a rock-solid foundation that helps you show up how you want to, no matter what.

This isn’t just about learning new techniques. It’s about embodying the parent you want to be so that when the chaos hits, because it will, you don’t just react, you respond with clarity, confidence, and connection.

Is Coaching Right for You?

Parenting is amazing, except for the moments that make you want to scream into a pillow. If you’ve ever had thoughts like these, you’re not alone

  •  “I just need you to put on your shoes. WHY IS THIS SO HARD” Learn how to handle resistance without bribing, begging, or losing your mind
  • “I said calm down. Why aren’t they calming down” Decode what’s really happening beneath your child’s big emotions so you don’t end up in a meltdown standoff
  •  “I swore I’d be patient, but here I am, channeling my own father” Break old patterns and create a parenting style that actually feels right for your family
  •  “We are NOT having another fight about screen time” Get practical strategies for boundaries that actually stick without constant battles
  •  “Am I even doing this right” Build the confidence to trust yourself, handle challenges with clarity, and finally stop second-guessing every decision

If any of these sound familiar, coaching can help. Together, we’ll turn daily struggles into moments of connection so parenting feels less like a battle and more like the relationship you always wanted.
